Accessibility at Havelock Dental
We welcome people of determination and everyone who needs a clearer way to read and explore our website.
Choose your reading settings
Use the circular person icon at the lower left on mobile or desktop. It is named “Accessibility” for screen readers. Choose text size up to 200%, high contrast, more text spacing, or reduced motion. Your choices are saved in this browser when storage is available. Reset reading preferences returns to the standard view. Your device’s reduced motion setting is also respected.
Listen to page text
Open Accessibility and choose Read aloud. You can choose an available voice and speed, pause, resume, or stop. Audio never starts automatically. Reading stops when you navigate to another page.
This optional feature uses your browser’s speech service and the voices available on your device. Some voices use an online service provided by your device or browser. It reads visible main page text, including expanded questions and answers, but excludes forms, private entries, menus and embedded tools. It cannot describe photographs or read PDF files. If audio is unavailable, try your browser’s reading tools or your device’s screen reader.
Screen readers and keyboard navigation
A screen reader offers spoken navigation for the whole website. The website supplies structured headings, text alternatives, links, buttons and labels. Your device’s screen reader interprets that structure and produces speech; speakers or headphones play it. A refreshable Braille display can also present screen-reader output.
- Windows: open Narrator with Windows + Ctrl + Enter. NVDA is another screen reader option.
- macOS: turn VoiceOver on or off with Command + F5; some keyboards also require Fn.
- iPhone or iPad: Settings → Accessibility → VoiceOver.
- Android: Settings → Accessibility → TalkBack. Menu names vary by device.
- Use Tab and Shift + Tab to move between controls, Enter or Space to activate a button, and Escape to close dialogs or the mobile menu. The first link lets you skip to main content.
- Gallery items open with Enter or Space. Use Previous and Next buttons or the arrow keys, and Close or Escape to return to the item.
- Before-and-after images have a labelled range control. Use arrow keys to change how much of each image is visible.
Bookings, maps and media
Appointment booking, chat, maps and video players are provided by other services. Their accessibility can vary. Booking links announce that they open a new tab. The clinic video has playback controls and does not start automatically.
Brochure download controls are labelled, but the files themselves may not be tagged for screen readers. Video captions, transcripts and detailed clinical image descriptions require content review. We do not claim that every third-party tool or media file is fully accessible.
Ask for help or share feedback
If any page, booking tool, video or brochure is difficult to use, email [email protected]. Include the page address and the help you need. You can request an appointment or a readable explanation by email.
